  • Overview

    The Agile Product Owner (APO) will serve as the key stakeholder and product champion.  The APO will be responsible for creating and maintaining the product backlog according to business value and/or ROI.  The APO will prioritize user stories within the backlog according to client and market needs The APO will convey the Vision and Goals at the beginning of each sprint and participate in the daily scrum meetings, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews and perspectives. The APO is responsible for ensuring that the team meets the program deadlines and goals.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintaining the software development schedule
    • Serve as the final approver of user stories as done. This includes validation that the story meets acceptance criteria as it complies with its definition of done
    • Gather both technical and non-technical requirements, communicate program/project plans and report out status updates to leadership and relevant stakeholders
    • Assess and mitigate risks, resolve bottlenecks, serve as an escalation point of contact, anticipate and access trade-offs and balance business needs with technical constraints
    • Establish and continuously monitor the change management processes between external and internal stakeholders
    • Assist development teams in researching, troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues, documenting solutions, and managing bug fix release cycles
    • Work with multiple product teams to create epics and user stories which provide the detail needed by each team and ensure each integration has a groomed, prioritized backlog
    • Work alongside UX Designer to develop detailed product wireframes and provide product management support to Engineering teams during the development and QA cycles
    • Inspire and motivate the development teams to deliver innovative and exciting solutions with an appropriate sense of urgency
    • Act as an ambassador for the product internally and as the primary contact for external queries related to the product
    • Ensure both quality and functional goals are met with each sprint by accepting user stories once all acceptance criteria are met
    • Work with QA and analyze data and test results to ensure integrity is maintained throughout program lifecycle and ensure requirements are satisfied
    • Lead user acceptance testing for all new features and be responsible for final approval for all new features before acceptance into production
    • Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with all development and business stakeholders to ensure timely and effective delivery of software features and defect resolution
    • Support internal teams with specific questions, training and guidance during product deployment and ongoing training
    • Play a crucial part in the team retrospective helping drive continuous improvements across the team

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven, successful background in a highly operational and technology-focused environment, to include the following skills and experience: 

    • Experience driving teams and management to decisions
    • Experience managing geographically dispersed team members
    • Must be skilled at conflict resolution
    • Proven experience with agile software development methods and best practices
    • Experience systematically analyzing problems, drawing relevant conclusions, and devising appropriate courses of action
    • Ability to decompose large epics into small manageable user stories
    • Write detailed, complete, and clear user stories and acceptance criteria
    • Story point estimations
    • Technical aptitude and critical abilities to speak about product capabilities based on the current technology
    • Experience with APIs and web services
    • Excellent communication skills and business process knowledge
    • Experience with ISO 9001 Certified Design and Development process or CMMI
    • Proven track record in product management and translating customer needs into business/product requirements
    • Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high energy, fast paced environment
    • Ability to travel to client sites CONUS/OCONUS 10%
