Overview

The RFID Solutions Engineer will be responsible for development of RF architecture and system design for integration with next generation UHF RFID readers. We are looking for a candidate with strong and broad experience in the design of RFID communication systems. Past experience in successfully designing, building and taking to production a complex RFID communication system on hardware is expected.

Responsibilities

Technical Pre-Sales

  • Play a key role during pre-sales phase of opportunities, working in collaboration with other team members in order to formulate responses to RFIs and RFPs in a competitive environment.
  • Develop and present technical material to a diverse set of IT and business stakeholders and deliver compelling demonstrations of proposed solutions.
  • Contribute to the overall direction and capabilities of the team by producing and enhancing collateral and white papers, as well as conducting internal training sessions for new or junior team members.
  • Work with the engineering team to perform in-depth assessments of customer processes and business cases and translate into technical requirements.

 Solution Design

  • Coordinate the design and documentation of solutions in close collaboration with customer and software engineering team covering data, application and technology domains.
  • Design activity will encompass network, infrastructure and integration of both hardware and software systems to ensure designs meet the defined business requirements and align with the enterprise architecture strategy.
  • Design and document software enhancements and work together with the software engineering manager to ensure the implementation meets the design.

 Implementation

  • Serve in advisory role within the project team, ensuring the implemented solution is developed in compliance with the design.
  • Provide support as required in relation to any integration activities to both customers and third party solution providers.
  • Manage solution deployment in-country to include installation, tag testing, etc.

 Preferred skills

  • Working with and configuring RFID hardware including readers, antennas, and peripherals.
  • Experience in writing software interfacing with RFID readers using LLRP
  • Knowledge of available third party RFID Middleware solutions.
  • Experience working with third party or in-house developed RFID Middleware solutions.
  • Java/J2EE, concurrency, SOA, Spring Framework, Hibernate
  • AWS and Linux
  • RESTful Services
  • Maven and Git

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from related field. Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in active and passive RFID delivery of large scale client solutions and knowledge of RFID standards
  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing and administrating wired and wireless networks; selecting and configuring network components; understanding capacity limitations; basic knowledge of network security and encryption
  • Proficiency with software and/or hardware, testing and implementation.
  • Able to travel 2-3 weeks periods / 4-5 times per year to Kuwait City, Kuwait
  • Experience collaborating with geographically diverse teams
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision to produce consistently exceptional work
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced, high stress environment
  • Government security clearance (or ability to obtain one)
